REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years professional web development experience
  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented JavaScript and JQuery
  • Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL
  • Experience working on dynamic sites that integrate with ASP.net (or similar OOP languages)
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3
  • Familiarity with a source control like GIT
  • Knowledge of web usability best practices
  • Proven time management and excellent organization skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both written and spoken English
  • Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science

Additional Experience Preferred but not necessary

  • Experience working on Ecommerce websites
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs
  • Open source contributions

Position Summary

The Senior Web Designer/Developer will design websites, micro sites, landing pages, emails and banner ads for our leading brands. This position will collaborate with the marketing and design teams to create engaging designs that will provide an exceptional user experience. A successful applicant should have experience designing for digital platforms including desktop, mobile and tablet, with a focus on the principals of design, website usability, color theory, and graphics creation optimized for the web.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Continue to elevate existing web design aesthetic while maintaining alignment with branding and organizational goals.
  • Share expertise and inspiration with the design team.
  • Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate presentation layers (HTML5, CSS3) into server-side applications and champion exceptional UX.
  • Develop user interaction models for web applications based on best practices, user and stakeholder feedback while meeting business goals.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to deliver high-quality, on-brand websites, micro sites, landing pages, emails and banner ads.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to convert completed mock-ups into clean, well-structured CSS3 and HTML5 pages
  • A deep understanding of the concepts and practices of responsive design for mobile optimization
  • Ability to build responsive websites from scratch using flexible grids and media queries
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks like JQuery
  • Strong sense of design, typography, and branding for the web
  • Current with latest and best Web technologies and trends
  • Work samples / link to an online portfolio
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in technology, design or related field
  • 3+ years web design experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, plan and execute test plans based on technical documentation
  • Identify and isolate product defects across a wide selection of ecommerce websites
  • Deliver complete, concise test reports at the end of the testing cycle
  • Document software defects using bug tracking system: Sifter & Basecamp
  • Provide visibility on quality to the rest of the organization
  • Collect and organize performance test metrics, highlighting key findings and recommendations
  • Control test configurations and environments on various Windows and Mac OS platforms
  • Develop work-around solutions to problems encountered during test development and execution

Required Qualifications

  • Proven time management and excellent organization skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both written and spoken English
  • Familiarity with database driven sites
  • Ability to take direction and contribute constructively in open discussion
  • BS / BA university degree.
  • Must be local to NY/NJ area.

Additional Experience Preferred but not necessary

  • Automation testing using Selenium or comparable tools
  • Have B2C ecommerce experience
  • Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, Microsoft SQL and JavaScript
